1) Ciao Paradise! Io sono abituata a intervistare band Rock e Metal, ma sono poche le band che mi hanno colpito al modo del tuo video, "Nalestan"... devo confessarti che mi fa piangere, perchè esprime un dolore intensissimo...
Per quanto riguarda "Nalestan", è stato ispirato da un problema nella famiglia di mia cugina. Mentre lo stavo registrando e stavo realizzando il video, anche Diverse e io abbiamo pianto molte volte.
2) Puoi parlarci di "Nalestan"? Come è stato girarlo? Come è stato accolto, al tuo paese?
"Nalestan" è la nostra seconda canzone dedicata a tutte le donne del mondo che stanno soffrendo per il loro essere donne.
Il mio primo Rap, che mi ha fatto guadagnare il titolo di "Prima donna Rapper Afghana" è "Faryade Zan Woman’s Shout”
che è incentrato sui problemi delle donne afghane e il silenzio nel quale sono immerse. Ho chiesto a tutte le donne di alzarsi e di dire No alla violenza. Appena dopo questa canzone, le mie cugine si sono date fuoco, perchè non volevano sposare un uomo anziano. Sfortunatamente una di esse è morta perchè aveva più del 70% di ustioni sul corpo, ma l'altra mia cugina è sopravvissuta e suo padre è stato arrestato, per aver venduto le sue figlie. Ho dedicato questa canzone a loro, e a tutte le donne del mondo. Noi, come le donne nella maggior parte dei paesi, siamo la generazione di donne delle quali gli uomini possono fare quello che vogliono con noi.
Perchè manteniamo il silenzio per quello che ciascuno di loro fa a noi. La musica è stata composta dai 143Band. Abbiamo scelto, come scenario, Herat, in Afghanistan. Herat è una città dell'Afghanistan, all'ovest, ancora molto religiosa. Ho voluto dimostrare a tutti gli uomini che io non sono spaventata da niente, e che posso alzare la mia voce.
(Nota di Lunaria: ricordiamo che i Talebani proibivano alle donne di parlare e ridere in pubblico)
Alcune donne mi dicevano delle parole cattive e volgari mentre stavamo girando il video. Ma io continuo, e spero che questo serva per aprire la loro mente, per far vedere come questo inferno stia andando avanti.
3) Tu canti "Afghanistan is my country name, but is full of pain"... io ti chiedo, ma come è possibile instaurare una dittatura così feroce, come quella del talebani? Che spiegazione ti sei data di questa ferocia?
Alcune persone dicono che i Talebani sono stati creati dall'America, per avere una ragione per stare qui; altri dicono che i Talebani sono veri musulmani. Ma io dico che sono degli animali e non sanno cos'è l'umanità.
Nell'Islam, è stato detto che non ci possono essere guerre durante il mese di Ramadan. Ma molte persone sono state uccise proprio in quel mese. I Talebani hanno fatto il lavaggio del cervello alle persone e ci hanno forzato a dimenticare la libertà che avevamo, il genere di cultura che avevamo. Puoi crederci se ti dico che noi avevamo degli show di moda, negli anni '70, a Kabul?
Molte persone giovani hanno compreso che le loro vite sono state rovinate dai Talebani. Ormai questo pensiero è nella mente della maggior parte delle persone, e le persone stanno vivendo con quello che sono state forzate ad accettare.
4) Sai, ricordo che in Italia arrivavano spesso le notizie dei crimini dei talebani, verso il 1996, 1997 (io ero ancora piccola, ma ricordo ancora le foto sui giornali...).
Crimini contro le donne... come è possibile tutta questa misoginia? Come si può odiare la donna, con questo odio infernale e disumano? Sai, devo dirti che qui in Italia siamo rimasti sconvolti dal burqa. è qualcosa che giudichiamo come... una cosa disumana. è qualcosa che non possiamo proprio capire... come si possa arrivare a ideare una cosa del genere... Vuoi parlarci di questa cosa?
Il burqa non è la nostra cultura e non è la cultura delle donne in Afghanistan. Puoi cercare su google il "Afghan National Woman": quelli sono i nostri abiti. Il burqa è ciò che i Talebani ci hanno forzato a mettere, e che hanno reso popolare, sfortunatamente.
Come può un uomo essere crudele a quel punto? Questo è qualcosa, una tattica, che hanno realizzato con successo, e ovunque una donna come me stia combattendo, loro la chiamano "prostituta". Sì vengo chiamata prostituta e il mio collaboratore è chiamato "effemminato".
Le donne afghane hanno bisogno di più supporto, per conoscere i loro diritti e iniziare a protestare, sempre continuando altre attività, per i loro diritti. Attualmente, il più grande problema è che non sono abbastanza scolarizzate o informate, e pensano che dovranno vivere a quel modo per sempre. Le loro menti sono chiuse.
5) Un'altra ragazza afghana, che ho letto, è Latifa. Latifa ha scritto un libro: "Viso negato. Avere vent'anni a Kabul: la mia vita rubata dai talebani"
In quel libro ha parlato degli atti di violenza. Mi sono rimaste impresse le pagine dove lei parla di come i talebani frustavano le persone per strada, e di come abbiano tagliato le dita di una donna che aveva messo lo smalto... o di come proibissero la musica, il tagliarsi i capelli, o guardare la televisione, persino ridere per strada. Latifa parlava persino di impiccagioni, ai pali del telefono, stupri e mutilazioni sessuali, squartamenti all'università...
Un'altra donna, che ho letto, è Suad. Dalla Cisgiordania. Le hanno bruciato il volto perchè non era più vergine.
Ora che situazioni vivi nel tuo paese? Come vanno le cose?
Ho sempre detto che essere donne, in Afghanistan, è ancora un crimine. Più difficile, se sei una donna e una cantante.
La gente crede che le donne cantanti siano prostitute.
Gli uomini fanno quello che vogliono, anche quello che chiamano "PECCATO", ma le donne non possono farlo.
Gli uomini guardano Shakira and JLO, Rihanna e così via, ma se vedono una cantante afghana la devono denigrare... Ho ricevuto molte minacce, persino di morte, ma non demordo.
6) Quando canti "I was burned by face in the name of islam/and was disgraced for revenge/I was poured acid all over/My husband can rape me", purtroppo, lo so che canti le violenze orribili compiute dall'islam... perchè una religione così antica e patriarcale, venata da una profonda misoginia, riesce ancora ad avere consensi alti? In Europa, per esempio, le donne nei primi del '900 hanno combattuto per avere diritti. Anche da noi, per secoli, sono state commessi orrori nel nome del cristianesimo.
Per esempio, l'idea che le femmine fossero inferiori di intelletto, non è solo un hadith islamico, ma è stata anche dottrina cristiana. Da noi l'ha affermata san Tommaso d'Aquino, un feroce misogino, dottore e autorità della chiesa cattolica per diversi secoli.
Adesso, qui in Italia si sente spesso parlare del gruppo islamico di Boko Haram, che continua a fare dei crimini abominevoli contro le donne in Africa...
A riguardo di questo, credo che l'Islam o il Cristianesimo non sono il problema, i seguaci di queste religioni creano i problemi, facendone un cattivo uso. Personalmente io non ho problemi, e credo a ciascuna di esse. Per questo dico che loro stanno facendo un cattivo uso del nome ISLAM, facendo tutto quello che vogliono.
7) Senti, altri nomi da citare sarebbero Soosan Firooz e RAWA, oltre che di Malalai Joya, che ho sentito personalmente in un 'intervista per radio popolare, una radio italiana. Sai, sono rimasta colpita dal suo coraggio. In Italia, donne politiche così, non ce ne sono!
Puoi parlarci di qualche altra associazione o persona che combatte per la libertà e i diritti? Vorremmo supportarla, anche se solo a distanza...
Per fortuna ci sono alcune donne che stanno facendo alcune cose che shoccano gli uomini. Abbiamo la prima pilota afghana Nelofar Rahmani, la prima commando Khatool Mohammad Zay, e la prima sportiva afghana nella corsa, Tahmina Kohistani.
8) Puoi parlarci anche della tua musica: suoni ancora, che progetti hai ecc.
Dunque, una delle nostre più belle sorprese sta proprio arrivando tra pochi mesi. Saremo in Europa per partecipare a molti eventi e concerti, in Germania, Francia e altri paesi europei!

9) Di te ho visto anche l'altro video, dove vieni picchiata... so che nella sura IV è permessa la violenza domestica. Ho anche visto alcuni video dove certi imam dicono come picchiare "le moglie disobbedienti" con dei bastoni...
Quel video era il mio primo clip. Abbiamo cercato di dimostrare come gli uomini imprigionino le donne, ma che non possono farlo alle loro menti! Purtroppo nell'Islam è stato detto che se parli per due volte con tua moglie ma lei non ti ascolta, puoi colpirla per farti ascoltare. Anche questo è un abuso degli uomini, su quello che è stato scritto nel libro.
10) Vorrei che tu ci parlassi della tua terra, di quanto di buono ha da offrire. Qui in Italia quando pensiamo all'Afghanistan, la prima cosa che ci viene in mente sono i burqa e le foto dei talebani con i fucili in mano. Puoi descriverci invece qualcosa di buono e di bello, della storia afghana? Com'è la scena musicale o cinematografica? Puoi farci qualche nome? e a livello di letteratura?
L'unica cosa che mi rende fiera di essere Afghana è stata quando la squadra di football ha vinto nel 2013 il titolo di “Afghanistan Wins South Asia Football Title”.
è stato il miglior momento della mia vita e ovunque la gente parlava di sport. Ma non è durato molto. Solo pochi giorni.
Sfortunatamente, nella situazione corrente, in Afghanistan dove tutti stano aspettando di vedere quali saranno i risultati delle elezioni, tutto il commercio è stato sospeso.
I Talebani stanno facendo ancora attacchi terroristici e anche due candidati non riescono ad andare d'accordo
Non riesco a pensare ad una cosa buona dell'Afghanistan.
Amo il mio paese, l'Afghanistan, ma sono così triste. Vogliamo la pace. Non è il paese al quale appartenevamo. Meritiamo un posto migliore e stiamo facendo del nostro meglio per renderlo migliore.

About Nalistan, that has come from a family problem that my cousin’s had. While I was recording it and making it video Diverse and I have cried many times, too.
2) Can you talk about "Nalestan"? How was it create and directed? As has been received, in your country?
Nalestan is our Second songs dedicated to all women around the globe who are suffering from being a woman.
My first Rap, which made me the First Afghan Female Rapper, is Faryade Zan “Woman’s Shout” is about all the problems that Afghan Women and they keep silent. I asked all the females to stand up and Say No Violence. Right After this song, my cousins has burnt themselves because they had to marry an old man. Unfortunately one of them died because of more than 70% of burns with her skin but my other cousin is alive yet and their Dad in put in jail because of selling his daughters. I dedicate this song Nalestan to them and all other woman in the globe. We, as women in most countries, are the generation that Man can do whatever they want to us. Why should we keep silence for what they are all doing for us. The music was composed by 143Band. We made the scenario and shoot it in Herat- Afghanistan. Herat is a Western city in Afghanistan which is so religious. I just wanted to show all the men that I am not afraid of anything and I can shout out my voice.
Even some few women were telling bad words while I was shooting that Music Video. But I will continue and make their mind open to what the hell is going on.
3) You sing "Afghanistan is my country name, but is full of pain" ... I ask you, how is it possible to establish a dictatorship so fierce, like the Talibans' dictatorship? What explanation did you date to understand this ferocity?
Some people say Taliban is made of America to have a reason to stay in the region. Some people say they are True Muslims. But what I say is they are a bunch of Animals and has no idea what humanity is.
In Islam it has been said that there should be no War in Ramadan month. But a lot of people have been killed via Taliban in this month as well.
They have washed our people’s mind and forced our people to forget what kind of freedom we had, what kind of cultures we had. Can you believe that we had fashion show in 70s in Kabul?
A lot of young people has come to understand that their life is being ruined only because of Taliban. Their thought is still in most people’s mind and people are living based on what they have been forced.
4) You know, I remember that in Italy often came the news of the crimes of the Taliban, to the 1996-1997 (I was 10, but I still remember the pictures and the photos in the italian newspapers...).
Expecially crimes against women ... why all this misogyny? How a man can hate the woman, with this infernal and inhuman hate? You know, I must tell you that here in Italy we were shocked by the burqas.The burqa is something that we consider as... something inhuman. It is something that we just can not understand... how a people can create this thing! Do you want to tell us something about this?
Burqa is not our culture and it is not Afghan women’s culture. Please search in google for Afghan National Woman. That is our clothes. This is what Taliban has forced and made it popular unfortunately.
How a man can be so cruel like this? This is tactic that they have made it successfully and whenever a woman, like me is fighting against it they are calling prostitute. Yes, I have been called prostitute and my fiancé has been called pimp.
Afghan woman need more support in order to know about their rights and start protesting and some other activities about their rights. Currently the biggest problem is that they are not educated and they think this is how they have to live. Their mind is closed to abroad.
5) Another Afghan girl, I read, is Latifa. Latifa has written a book, "Face denied. Having twenty years in Kabul: my life stolen by the Taliban"
In that book, she spoke of acts of violence. I was impressed by the pages where she talks about how the Taliban whipping people on the street, and how they cut off the fingers of a woman who had put the nail polish ... or how they have forbid music, haircut for men, or watching television, or laughing in the street. Latifa spoke of hangings, to telephone poles, rapes and sexual mutilations, massacres at the University ...
Another woman, I read, is Suad. From Giordania. One man from her family burned her face because she has lost her virginity.
Now what are the living conditions in your country? How are things?
Well, I have always said that being a woman in Afghanistan is already a crime. More difficult is being a woman and Singer. People think all the female singers are prostitute.
Men used to do whatever they want to do, whatever they call it SIN but woman cannot do it.
They used to watch shakira and JLO, Rihana and so on but if they see an Afghan Female singer is doing well they make her down… I have received a lot of threats and death messages but I will never give up.
6) When you sing "I was burned by face in the name of Islam / and was disgraced for revenge / I was poured acid all over / My husband can rape me", unfortunately, I know you are speaking about horrific violence in Islam, a religion so ancient, and with patriarchal misogyny... why this religion, in 2014 is still followed by a lots of people? In Europe, for example, women in the early '900 fought to have rights. Here, for centuries, people have done some crimes in the name of Christianity.
For example, the idea that females were inferior in intellect and reason, is not only an Islamic hadith, but it was also Christian doctrine. Saint Thomas Aquinas, a fierce misogynist, a doctor and authority of the Catholic Church for several centuries, spoke about this
Now, here in Italy we often hear about the Islamist group Boko Haram, which continues to make abominable crimes against women in Africa...
Well regarding this I have to say that Islam or Christianity is not the problem, the follower of the religions are making the problems but making it in a wrong way. I personally do have problem with any religion and I do believe on all of them. That’s why I said that they are misusing the name of ISLAM and they are doing whatever they want to do.

Well, one of the best surprises are coming in some few months. We will be in Europe to participate in several events and concerts in Germany, French and some few other European countries.
9) I have seen your second video, where you're beaten by a man...
I know that in Sura IV is legal the domestic violence and I have seen some videos where imams speak how beaten "disobedient wives" with rods...
Actually as I said That clip is my first clip. In that clip we have tried to show that men can make women in prison but they cannot put their mind in prison.
Somehow unfortunately, in Islam it has been said that for two times talk to your wives but if she is not listening to you then hit them so they will listen to you.
This is another misusing of men L about what has been written in the book.
10) I'd like listening you speaking about your land, for good things Afghanistan has to offer to the world. Here in Italy when we think about Afghanistan, the first thing that comes to our minds are the burqas and the pictures of the Taliban with guns in hand.
Can you describe instead of something good and beautiful, of Afghanistan's history? How is the music scene or movies? Can you give us some names? and in literature?
The only thing that made me proud of to be an Afghan was when the Afghanistan football team was when “Afghanistan Wins South Asia Football Title” in 2013.
That was the best moment of my life and everywhere people were talking about sport. But it didn’t last long. It was only for some few days.
Unfortunately, in current situation of Afghanistan that everyone is waiting to see what will be the result of the election and all the business is stopped. Taliban is making terrorist attacks and even these two candidates are not good with each other.
I really cannot think about good thing of Afghanistan L
I love my country, Afghanistan, but I feel sorry for my country. We want peace for our country. This is not the country that we belong to. We deserve a better place and we try our best to make our country the best place to live.
